Rene R. Giguere - age 84, of Elm Avenue, died October 17, 2013 at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta after a brief illness. He was born in Waterville, ME on July 20, 1929 the son of Willie Giguere and Claudianna (Rodrigue) Giguere.

Rene attended Waterville schools and he served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was employed by Key Corp for four years. He was previously employed as a manager by Gregg Distributors for 27 years.

Rene was a member of St. Michael Parish, a lifetime member of the Calumet Club, a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks of Augusta, American Legion Post #2 and a 20 year member of Cushnoc Senior Citizens.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Raymond Giguere, and a sister, Theresa Veilleux.

Surviving is his wife, Rollande (Bourque) Giguere of Augusta; one daughter, Michele Stevens and her husband Dean of Belgrade; one son, Paul Giguere and his wife Francie Philbrook of Manchester; two brothers, Claude Giguere and his wife Camilla of Waterville and Leopold Giguere of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Annette Rancourt and her husband Earl and Joan Veilleux and her husband Julian, all of Waterville; two grandchildren, Daniel and Gabriel; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Giguere of Enfield, CT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday Oct. 20th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 6:15 PM for a prayer service, and where members of the Augusta Lodge of Elks are asked to meet at 6:45 PM to offer the Ritual of the Dead. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 AM Monday, Oct. 21st at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Committal prayers with military honors will follow at the graveside at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
